GM CEO Rick Wagoner, Left, arrives in Washington in a Chevrolet Volt hybrid on December 4, 2008 to ask the Senate Banking Committee for a multi-million dollar bailout package. The Volt is intended to illustrate GM's ability to compete in coming years in the American marketplace.

  2. Electric cars are not the answer. Liquified natural gas on the other hand is very much an answer. We have plentiful natural gas in the United States (no lawyer jokes please), its cheap, its environmentally cleaner than gasoline or diesel and it can done with minimal conversion costs to the major manufacturers.

    Saving the big 3 by bailing them out may be odious to some, but the loss of jobs both there and at their suppliers/vendors and at dealerships across the country would be devastating to our economy at present. How about asking for personal guarantees from the executives for the government loans? Well, you have to keep a sense of humor.
